Expedia Parts is operated by Expedia Solutions LLC, a Wyoming-registered company. We sell used and remanufactured engines, transmissions, and related drivetrain parts online to customers in the United States.
Does Expedia Parts charge sales tax at checkout?
In most cases, we do not add sales tax to your order total at checkout today. Your receipt shows part price, core charge (if applicable), shipping, and install kit — not a separate sales tax line.
That does not mean your purchase is always tax-free. It means we are not collecting sales tax on your behalf at the time of purchase.
What is use tax?
When a seller does not collect sales tax on a taxable purchase, many states impose a complementary use tax on the buyer. Use tax applies to taxable items you use, store, or consume in your state.
Engines and transmissions are tangible goods. In most states they are taxable unless a specific exemption applies (for example, a valid resale or tax-exempt certificate on file before purchase).
Do I pay use tax on my state tax return?
Often, yes — for individual buyers. Many states include a line on the state income tax return where residents report use tax on out-of-state purchases where sales tax was not collected. Some states also offer a lookup table for smaller purchases.
Businesses (repair shops, dealers, fleets) generally must track and remit use tax through their state tax filing process — not only on a personal return.
Rules vary by state. Check your state Department of Revenue or Taxation website for current instructions.
