Short answer
We do not add a separate sales tax charge on shipping at checkout today. Your order summary shows shipping or delivery as its own line (commercial or residential freight), not bundled with a sales tax total.
How shipping appears on your order
- Commercial delivery — quoted flat rate where applicable
- Residential delivery — may include an additional residential / liftgate fee
- Tax — not collected as a separate line item at checkout in most cases
If your state requires use tax on taxable purchases, some states include shipping and handling in the taxable base when you self-report use tax. That is determined by your state's rules, not by our checkout display.
If we collect sales tax in the future
If Expedia
Solutions LLC registers to collect sales tax in your state, future orders may show tax calculated on eligible charges per that state's law (which may or may not include shipping).
